FREEDOM OF
INFORMATION (FOI)
BILL - GHANA NATION
(2008)!
Many individuals and
groups in Ghana are
working very hard for
passage of the FOI bill
in Ghana by the next
government. We think
that the political party in
Ghana that provides a
comprehensive
program, schedule, and
other details to
institutionalize this good
governance mechanism
for democracy and the
rule of law will deserve
the support of all
Ghana-centered people.
If you represent an
agency or are one of the
individuals in Ghana
fighting for passage of
FOIB, please contact

Too much, too much, too

you pickable?
More important, is your

New Year (2008)
The most insightful teachable moment for Ghana's fledgling democracy in 8 years.
We liked it is so much we thought President Kufour, Dr. Asemfofro, and Lady MC
deserved honorable mentions. (If you know the name of the MC contact

FOI Bill - Ghana Draft
(2003)
This dud of FOI bill was pulled from the official Ghana Government website when
Prof Lungu published a
Critique of Right to Information 10 Sep 07 on Ghanaweb.
Wont you agree that a Freedom is to be preferred to a right a government can take
away any time?

Draft FOI - Nigeria Hse of
Representatives - Stalled-
(2004)
FOI - version passed by Nigerian Hse of Reps. Stalled because Mr. Obasanjo did
not have an appetite for it. Interesting that in 2008 many Nigerians think Ghana has
a FOI and those in Ghana think Nigerians have a FOI bill. Nice try - both bills are
stalled! We can surmise that "The humiliation of...ex-President... Obasanjo...less
than a year after he left office has something to do with his bag of appetite for a
FOI bill as head Nigeria. Say nawa oh!
7
FOI - Kenya Draft (2007
This Kenya FOI is not going anywhere. It is amazing that the recent massacre,
hicups, and coalition government, with more ministers to fill a school classroom,
did not discuss a way forward for the Kenya FOI bill. Missed oppotunities!
8
FOI - Kenya draft policy
(2007) - Stalled!
A draft policy that will form the basis for insitutionalizatrion of the FOI bill in
Kenya. More progressive. In that respect, Kenya is ahead of Ghana and Nigeria.
Don't tell some Ghanaians that Kenya is ahead of Ghana, or that Kenya is similar
to Ghana!
